What to Expect

Your first visit to Away with Hair will begin with a a review of your paperwork (see below for forms you can download before your visit). Deb will work with you to determine the best course of action and will provide you with a price quote for your treatments.

This is where you will find out if you are a good candidate for laser or if electrolysis is a better option.

Pre and post treatment instructions/precautions will be outlined. During this time you will be advised on what to expect during the procedure.

Pretreatment- avoid the sun on areas you want treated. That includes direct sunlight, tanning beds, and self tanning lotions.

Post treatment- Redness and bumps are normal and last anywhere from 1 to 2 hours. The area might feel like a sunburn from 4 to 48 hours after treatment. Cold compresses help relieve any discomfort.

Do not pick or scratch the treated skin. Do not add more heat to the areas after treatment. That includes the sun, hot tubs, saunas, etc. Always wear a sun block of at least 25 SPF throughout treatment to avoid lightening or darkening of the skin. Moisturize if the area becomes irritated.

I had been living with unwanted hair on my upper lip and chin for over 10 years. I tried SEVERAL different kinds of waxing, shaving and plucking techniques, and not to mention all the latest cover-up to try and hide the hair, but at the end of the day (literally) the hair was still there. After getting engaged, and starting the planning of a beautiful wedding, I decided to look into laser hair removal. Deb Drake\\\’s website stood out to me because it was professional, informative and inviting. I read more about her and her business and read through multiple testimonials that gave me hope. The next day, I gave Deb a call and scheduled my first appointment. She performed her first session on my chin, and a week later I didn\\\’t have to shave. The hairs literally FELL OUT! I scheduled six more sessions with her for my chin and upper lip, and after just two I no longer have to wear concealer or shave, pluck or wax. SHE IS THAT GOOD! Deb, thank you so much for improving my quality of life 100%. Because of you, there won’t be any unwanted hair on my face in my wedding pictures….just smiles. I highly recommend Deborah Drake for professional, affordable, reliable hair removal. IT WORKS.

Is hair removal permanent?

Hair removal with the laser is FDA approved for permanent hair reduction because it cannot remove blonde, white or red. Electrolysis is permanent as it will remove any hair color.

Can men get hair removal?

Men are also becoming more aware of the need to remove unwanted hair, most areas can be treated with great results.

Is hair removal painful?

During your laser appointment you will be expected to wear protective eyewear, its mandatory. Prior to your appointment the area to be treated needs to be clean shaven. The laser beam targets pigmented hair, the darker and coarser the hair the easier it is for the laser to destroy the ability for the hair to grow. Most describe the sensation as a slight snap, similar to a rubber band. Thanks to the cool tip, this is minimized. For those of you who that are more sensitive a numbing cream can be applied before treatment.
